The gluten-free diet has been one of the biggest health trends in the past. Yet, a confusion remains here about the gluten-free diet, no matter what. Is a gluten-free diet suitable for everyone or for some? Does gluten harm everyone? The conflict of “Is a gluten-free diet beneficial or harmful?”.
First of all, people with celiac disease should avoid gluten. Or to put it in another way, they should take a gluten-free diet.
However, many health guides and instructors suggest that everyone should follow a gluten-free diet.
What is Gluten?
There are several proteins that are found in wheat, barley, rye, and triticale. These proteins collectively are Gluten.
So, this certainly clears out that not including these grains and other sources of gluten in your diet is what we call a gluten-free diet.
Now, coming to our major concern of whether a gluten-free diet is beneficial or not…
Gluten-free Diet: Good or Bad?
There is gluten intolerance in people in terms of 3 major diseases i.e., Celiac Disease, Wheat Allergy, Non-Celiac Gluten Disease (NCGS). Therefore, doctors recommend a gluten-free diet for people with gluten intolerance. Hence, they can live healthily. Further, people with gluten intolerance choose to have a gluten-free diet for the same reasons.
Accordingly, studies show that a gluten-free diet benefits people with autoimmune diseases and improves their health conditions.
However, following these people also prefer having a gluten-free diet even if they don’t have gluten intolerance or any other concern. That is because many people think it will help them in losing their weight. However, one should always keep in mind that avoiding gluten from your diet or having a gluten-free diet just for the sake of weight loss might not benefit everyone.
A gluten-free diet for weight loss is a sort of fad diet which isn’t a very favorable thing for everyone’s body at all.
Above all, including a gluten-free diet in your routine but taking something else unhealthy will never ever benefit you or might even make the situation worse.
Therefore, a gluten-free diet is a good or bad idea, all in all, depends on the consumer, on you. Whether it is suiting your body or whether it is harming your body. After all, diet is a body-specific thing. Even if it is suiting another person’s body then too, it might not suit yours.
So, it’s time for the experiment itself.
Try including a gluten-free diet or in other words avoid gluten in your diet for some weeks or maybe 1 month and then discover if it’s in your favor or not.
